Coleman was also nominated as Best Actress at the TV Choice Awards. Steven Moffat, the producer of Doctor Who confirmed in a 21st March press conference on the show that Coleman will be Matt Smith's companion following the departure of Karen Gillan left. Moffat chose to cast her in the role as she had the strongest chemistry with Smith. She also spoke more quickly than he does.
